WEDNESDAY (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) FINE FOR DRUNKENNESS For being drunk in the Barbadoes street cemetery, Dallas McNicol was fined 30s, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment. UNREGISTERED DOGS For failing to register dogs the following were fined and ordered to pay costs: —Gordon Adamson 20s, William Andersen 20s, Harold Banks ss, John Gordon Graham 20s, George Oakleigh Greenwood ss, Walter Jack - ss, Ursula Jcnes (two charges), 20s and 10s; Gordon William James Lawton costs only, Isabel Catherine Mayo ss, Hugh Morgan ss, Robert Ross Munro costs only, Kathleen Bolton Neville 20s, Launs Newfield 20s, Arthur George Poynter 20s. Thomas Robinson 10s, Eric Walter Wilkinson ss. UNLICENSED WIRELESSES For failing to license their wireless sets, the following were fined and ordered to pay costs:—Stanley Harold Andrews ss, Edward Quaid 5s (voluntary appearances); Allen Lester Atyeo ss, Charles Bingham 15s, Albert Black 255, Lily Marguerite Jane Cook 12s 6d, Royden Copeland 20s, William James Gardener 12s 6d, Thomas Henry Hodgman 255, Arthur Edward Hooper ss, Kitson Richard Mintrom 20s, William Mower ss, Walter John Murphy 12s 6d, Thomas Powell ss, Vera Round ss, Thomas Rutherford 12s 6d, John Dempster Cross was convicted but the imposition of penalty was postponed. TRAFFIC OFFENCES For breaches of the traffic regulations in the Heathcote County the following were fined and ordered to pay costs: Cycling without a light—Henry Hewinson (voluntary appearance), costs only; John Richards, 10s; Lawrie King (voluntary appearance), ss; Edward Eden, costs only; Jack Eden, convicted and discharged. Driving with insufficient lights— Charles Griffin, 20s. . .... Failing to stop when required by the traffic inspector, William Merritt, 20s. Driving in a manner dangerous to the public—Norman Prestney 20s. Noisy exhaust—John Rowley 10s. Speeding—Claude Taylor £3. Speeding—William Scott Templeton, £4; driving without a tail-light, ss. The district traffic manager proceeded against Walter William Dunkley on a charge of failing to stop when signalled to do so by the crossing keeper at the Fendalton railway crossing. Mr A. W. Brown appeared for the district traffic manager. Mr C. S. Thomas, for the defendant, pleaded guilty, but said that the defendant did not realise that the keeper s signal was meant for him until he was right up to the lines. He was driving slowly and carefully. A fine of 5s was imposed.

(Before Mr H. A. Young, S.M.) C. W. Timothy, charged with driving a motor-cycle without an efficient silencer, was fined 10s and ordered to pay costs, and for driving a motorcycle on which more than two persons were carried, he was fined 10s and costs. Judgment for the plaintiff by default was given in the civil case of O. M. •Williams v. F. Meyer for £1 15s. On a judgment summons, W. Taituha, jun., was ordered to pay R. F. Joyce £l4 2s 6d forthwith, in default 15 days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as '.la month is paid.
