The Commonwealth Government has taken steps to perpetuate the memory of Sir Charles KingsfordSmith. Mascot aerodrome in future will be known as the Kings-ford-Smith aerodrome. Mascot. Sir Archdale Parkhill, Federal Minister for Defence, said the Government regarded it as appropriate that Mascot aerodrome, which had so many historical associations with Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith’s flying career, should be selected as the most suitable air centre with which to link his name and achievements. The Cabinet has decided that other airmen associated with pioneering in aviation should be honoured by naming after them other important air centres. Thus Darwin aerodrome in future will be known as the Ross Smith aerodrome, Darwin.
