COMPETITIONS AT RICCARTON
AWARDS ON FIRST NIGHT The Rlccarton musical competitions were opened in the Clarence Street Methodist Schoolroom last evening. The Rev. H. Ryan welcomed the judges, who were:— Mrs P. Le Brun (vocal), Mr Claude Davies (instrumental), and Dr. A. Jackson Thomas (elocutionary). The accompanist was Miss Ethel Jackson .and stage manager Mr Clifford H. Barrell. ! Awards were:— Song, lady or gentleman, open—Eileen Ryan. 82 points, 1; Joyce Bowman and Joseph Hunter, 81 points (equal) 2. Impromptu Speech, open—Gwendoline Ryan, 80 points, 1; R. E. Bibbie, 74 points, 2, Song in Character. 16 and under—Molly Ryan, 80 points, X: Jean Marsh, 79 P Plano Solo, open—Phyllis Wise, 85 points, 1; Ronald Biggs, 82 points, 2,
