MANNEQUIN PARADE Hay’s tea-room yesterday afternoon was the setting for a most effective mannequin parade. Styles were charming and varied-tailored coats and suits, afternoon and evening frocks, furs and millinery being shown to the greatest advantage by the skilled mannequins. Many checks and large plaids were noticed among the coats and swagger suits, brown and white and navy and white being the colour combinations most in evidence, with green also a favourite. Some extremely beautiful afternoon frocks were shown, including a delightful black taffeta model with smart revers of green. With this frock was worn a black ballibuntl picture hat trimmed with black net and cire .ribbon. Among the evening frocks, a floral patterned satin model was outstanding. The fur wraps were exceptionally handsome, squirrel being the fur most used. In this group a grey squirrel evening cape was most becoming. The furs were supplied by the Pattison Ede Company, The climax of the afternoon came when the orchestra struck up the wedding march, and the bride and her four attendants appeared. Tile bride’s frock of needlerun lade and georgette was much admired as was her novel headdress of ostrich plumes. Ostrich plumes were also used to trim the bridesmaids’ hats. The bridesmaids each wore frocks of different shade, lemon, green, peach, and white. They carried dainty little, muffs to match their frocks. Miss Cecily Audibert acted as announcer during the afternoon and also charmed everyone with four delightful songs. Musical items were played by Miss Betty Hall’s trio.
