OPAWA-ST. MARTINS Mrs W. S. Newburgh presided at the monthly meeting of the Opawa-St. Martins branch of the Plunket Society held at the home of Mrs D. E. Hansen Opawa. ’ Nurse Harman’s report for Opawa was as follows; Visits to hemes, old cases 10; visits to rooms, adults 71, babies 71; and two new cases in the district for the month. Nurse Bowron reported that 54 adults, 54 babies, and 10 older children had visited the rooms at St. Martins. The health of the babies had been good. The treasurer reported that £5 had been raised by the recent bridge party, and subscriptions had been received from Mesdamcs D. E. Hansen, S. W. Hillary, J. H. Kane, A. Forbes, and Rhodes. It was decided that the sub-branch should take charge of the collecting at Ballantyne’s corner and assist with the tea on Violet Day. Mrs H. C. Holland, a new member, was welcomed to the committee by the president It was decided to hold the next bridge party at Mrs Newburgh’s home. ASHBURTON BRANCH MEETS The Ashburton branch of the Plunket Society met yesterday afternoon, with the president (Mrs F. W. Seldon) presiding. The nurses’ monthly report said that there were 53 visits to homes, and 524 visits to rooms in the town, and 83 visits to homes and 225 to rooms in the country. The following executive was appointed;—Mesdames Seldon, J. Connor, C. M. Innes, G. I. Miller, W. R. Ryburn, J. H. Grigg, and Miss E. Gates. Mrs Ryburn replaces Miss M. Roberts, who has left the district, on the executive. Preliminary arrangements were made for daffodil day to be held early in September.
