ROAD RACING SEASON AVON CLUB’S EVENT AT MAIREHAU The Avon Amateur Cycling Club continued its road racing season on Saturday with a 24-mile race from Mairehau to Kaiapoi and back, through Clarkville. Day secured fastest time, and E. G. Taylor second fastest time. PAPANUI CLUB The Papanui Amateur Cycling Club held a 26i mile race to Woodend and back. I. J. Taylor, R. B. Blakeway, and T. A. Grose conceded starts up to Bmin, and 31 riders competed. The winner, F. M. Longley, is a newcomer to the sport and sprinted well to win by two lengths. Results:—F. M. Longley (Bmin), 69min 49sec, 1; N. Macintosh (51min), 67min ssec, 2; N. M. Perrott (simin), 67min 5 l-ssec, 3; C. J, Brown (54min), 67min 5 2-ssec, 4. Fastest time was registered by I. J. Taylor (scr), time 63min 57 4-ssec; and second fastest by R. B. Blakeway (scr). time, 63min SBsec. CASH SWEEPSTAKE A cash sweepstake road race was held at Spreydon. A small field started with C.
