SHAREBROKER CHARGED WITH THEFT

REMANDED UNTIL JULY 1 Richard Nunes, a sharebroker, of Christchurch, was arrested about 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon and charged with theft. Nunes carries on at 176 Hereford street. A little later in the afternoon, he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr H. A. Young, S.M., charged that on or about September 19, 1935. he stole £BO, the property of Mary Louisa Sutherland. With the consent of his counsel (Mr J. N. Smith), he was remanded until July 1. Detective-Sergeant T. E. Holmes, who, with Detective P. Burns, arrested the accused, said that a series of other charges might be pending In applying for bail, Mr Smith said that Nunes had no intention of absconding, as he had been the first to mention the matter with which he was charged. B® ll w ?s granted in the sum of self , £2OO, with one surety of £2OO, and the accused was ordered to report daily to the police.
