GIRL STOWAWAY ON MARIPOSA
TRANSFERRED AT SEA TO MONTEREY (press association telegram.) AUCKLAND, June 12. Discovered on the deck of the Mariposa on the morning after the vessel left Honolulu, a 20-year-old girl from Salt Lake City, Utah, who stowed away under the impression that the vessel was bound for San Francisco, was transferred in the Pacific to the sister ship Monterey, when the vessels passed at midnight. The sea was calm when the girl, whose only possession was a suitcase, was taken across to the Monterey in one of the ship’s boats. She carried with her, however, a sum of nearly 200 dollars, which was subscribed by the passengers.
