AIRSHIP SERVICE OVER TASMAN?
GERMANS INTERESTED PROPOSAL BEING CONSIDERED The establishment of an airship service between Australia and New Zealand is now being considered by German interests, according to Mr Lars G. Brundahl, Trade Commissioner for the Leipzig Fair, who arrived from San Francisco by the Mariposa on his way home to Sydney after a visit to Europe. Mr Brundahl said he had been asked to investigate the possibility of an airship service from Sydney to somepoint in the Dominion, and intended to approach the Commonwealth and New Zealand Governments on the question. It would be possible to supply a'suitable airship, which would be able to carry 40 passengers and mail, and make the crossing of the Tasman in 18 hours. Mr Brundahl has also been asked to negotiate with the Commonwealth Government with a view to arranging for a flight to Sydney by one of Germany’s latest airships in 19S8. when the one hundred-rind-liftieth anniversary of the city and of organised settlement in Australia will be celebrated.
