LODGE MEETING The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Heart of Oak Oddfellows Lodge was held with Bro. fiL Perrin (N.G.), presiding, ■ , The Noble Grand extended a welcome to the District Grand Master (Bro. Barnes), who was paying an unofficial visit to Kiakoura. At the conclusion of lodge business a “Say, sing or pay” evening was held and a game of bowls between teams selected by the District Grand Master and Sister Wells was played. Members Entertained Mesdames J. Lovett and T. Stack, who are leaving the Kaikoura district to reside in Wellington and Blenheim respectively, were entertained on Wednesday afternoon by the women of the Kaikoura parish at Mrs J. Gibson’s home. Beach road. Father Devlin presented a rose-bowl to Mrs Lovett and a cut-glass vase to Mrs Stack and expressed the regret of the parish at their departure. W£ JL The weekly meeting of the Kaikoura Workers’ Educational Association was held at the residence of Mr P. Burgoyne. Mr E. R. McClatchie was the leader, the subject discussed being “The social and political background of the eighteenth century, and the rise of the newspaper."
