The political correspondent of the “Daily Herald” says Mr J. H. Thomas visited the House of Commons, but did not appear in the chamber. He was closeted for 15 minutes with Mr Ramsay Mac Donald, who urged that the resignation of his seat was the only proper course. Mr Thomas will makfe a personal statement on Thursday and then announce his resignation. The executive committee of Labour members of the House of Commons have decided to question the Government regarding the publication i n the American magazine ‘‘Time” of an article alleging a leakage respecting the Newfoundland Ponds in 1903. It is understood that the Government has already made enquiries. The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr Neville Chamberlain) may make a statement durfng Thursday’s debate. BUDGET TRIBUNAL’S FINDING POSSIBILITY OF CRIMINAL CHARGE LONDON, June 9. In announcing the debate on the report of the budget tribunal for Thursday, the Home Secretary (Sir John Simon) in the House of Commons said that the question of ciiminal proceedings rested solely with the Attorney-General. Cabinet had no intention of influencing his decision. Sir John Simon agreed with questioners that the Attorney-General's decision should be ascertained before the debate. It is expected that the question will be put to the House to-morrow. The debate will be abandoned if a decision is made to take proceedings.
