THE ENSOM PRIZE
ANNUAL AWARD FOR PEACE
ESSAY
Mr W. S. Lowe is the winner for 1936 of the Ensom Prize, awarded annually by the Canterbury University College Council for an essay dealing with the promotion of world peace. Mr R. H. Anderson was proxime accessit.
The prize is provided out of a fund established in 1929 by a bequest of £250 by Mrs Sarah Ann Ensom. It is awarded on the recommendation of the professorial board and is open to all undergraduates of the college and all graduates of not more than four years’ standing, who at the time of their graduation were students of the college. Entrants select their own subject, provided that the essay advocates a constructive policy for the promotion and preservation of international peace and goodwill.
