SERIOUS OFFENCES

SIX YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT WITH HARD LABOUR

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.)

AUCKLAND, May 25

A sentence of six years’ imprisonment with hard labour was passed by Mr Justice Fair on Frederick Mornson aged 54, for indecent assaults on a boy. In 1932 the accused was sentence to three years’ reformative detention for a similar offence. “It seems that nothing can be said to palliate these offences, which were continued over a period of four months,” said his Honour. “An exemplary sentence must be imposed.” Accused was sentenced to two years imprisonment on each of three charges, the sentences to be cumulative.
