FOR USE IN EMERGENCY

TELEPHONE IN OTIRA GORGE

A telephone box for use in emergency has been installed in the Otira Gorge on the Arthur's Pass-Kumara main highway. Advice to this effect has been received by the Automobile Association from the Public Works Department, Greymouth. The telephone-box is situated at the foot of the zig-zag in the gorge, and the key can be obtained from the surfaceman. If he is absent access to the telephone can be gained, if circumstances warrant it, by breaking a small window alongside the lock on the box.
