HOPE ABANDONED

THREE MEN ENTOMBED TORONTO, April 15. Hope has been abandoned for three Toronto mine owners, Dr. D. Robertson, Mr Herman Megill, and Mr Alfred Scaddinp. who have been buried for three days 150 feet'underground in an abandoned gold mine in Nova Scotia. A new slide forced 100 rescuers to flee for their lives.

There was a desperate race against time, in which hardrock miners came 700 miles by aeroplane from Ontario. Smoke signals from the men through a fissure ceased immediately after the second cavein.
