MALVERN MEN’S HOCKEY SUB-ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING HELD Mr A. Petrie presided at the fourth annual meeting of the Malvern Men’s Hockey Sub-Association. Delegates were present from the Sheffield, Greendale. Kirwee, and Darfield Clubs, The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr A. W. Adams; president, Mr A. Petrie; vice-presidents, president of each club; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. G. Holland: auditor, Mr W. Tritt; representative to Canterbury Association, Mr H. Throp; selectors, captain of each team. It was decided to haye a competition of three rounds. Arrangements for the flve-a-side tournament and representative game were left till the end of the first round. The draw is as follows:—First round. May 2: Greendale v. Sheffield, Darfleld-Kir-wee a bye; May 9: Darfleld-Kirwee v. Greendale, Sheffield a bye; May 16; Sheffield v, Darfleld-Kirwee, Greendale a bye. Second round, May 23: Sheffield v. Greendale, Darfleld-Kirwee a bye; May 30: Greendale v. DarfleldKirwee, Sheffield a bye; June 6: Dar-field-Kirwee v. Sheffield, Greendale a bye. Third round, June 13: Greendale v. Sheffield, Darfleld-Kirwee a bye; June 20: Darfleld-Kirwee v. Greendale, Sheffield a bye; June 27, Sheffield v, Darfleld-Kirwee, Greendale a bye.
SHEFFIELD DRAMA CIRCLE A meeting of the Sheffield Drama Circle was held in the Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s rooms, with Mr J. D. Tooms presiding. The following one-act plays were selected and it was decided to begin practising on April 23: “The Christening,” "Miracle Worker,” and “The Capture.” It was decided to hold practices every Thursday evening and on produce the plays at the end of June. Endeavours are being made to increase the membership of the circle with a view to attempting a fourth play. Malvern Choir The choir of the Malvern Musical Society has now finished arrangements for the presentation of its Easter production, “Olivet to Calvary.” This enjoyable work will be given in the Sheffield Hall. Following on the recent successes by the choir, the public can look forward to an impressive musical evening. The society has once agaip engaged the popular Christchurch artists. Mr Ernest Rogers and Mr J. L. Tennent.
