HEATHCOTE NEWS

ST. MARY'S CHURCH The annual parish meeting of St. Mary's Church, Heathcote, was held on Wednesday night, the attendance being only fair. The acting-vicar, Canon W. S. Bean, presided. The meeting stood for a minute in silence in memory of Mrs WestWatson. The balance-sheet showed a credit 1 balance of £199. Canon Bean reported that owing to health reasons he would not be able to.continue as act-ing-vicar after the end of April. No successor has yet been announced. Mr M. S. Ogilvie was appointed Bishop's warden, with Mr N. S. Collins as people's warden. The vestry was elected as follows: Mesdames M. Ashley, V. Bliss, C. Nixon, Messrs W. Bate, K. Bate, and H. Bliss. Birthday Party A very pleasant evening was spent in the Methodist Sunday school, when relatives and friends entertained Mr Fred Woods on -his attaining his twenty-first birthday. The evening was spent in games, and a musical programme was provided by Mrs Stevens, Miss B. Emmett, Mr D. Connolly, and Mr F. Woods. Mr Dawson and Mr W. J. Burnell congratulated the guest of the evening, and spoke of the work he had done in the church and Sunday school. Mr W. J. Burnell was master of ceremonies.
