SOVIET MENACE TO JAPAN
ENDEAVOUR TO PROVIDE ARMAMENTS LONDON, April 14. Preparing the nation for a sustained effort to provide armaments which Japan's new policy in Asia requires, the Japanese War Office has circulated, for domestic consumption, a pamphlet outlining Japan's international positon from the viewpoint of the Army, together with a comparison of the Japanese and Russian armaments, including a map showing Russia's Far Eastern forts, armaments, tanks, and aeroplanes. According to the Sun-Herald News Service, the pamphlet says: "By the Japan-Manchukuo Protocol, our first line of defence has been advanced to the Soviet frontier, where the heavily-armed Far Eastern Red Army confronts our forces. Russia's Government has completely changed since the Russo-Japanese War, but its aggressive Far Eastern policy is unchanged. "England and America jealously watch the rise of Japan, but if any country attempts to prevent us from attaining our mission in East Asia we shall remove the obstacle by all the means in our power."
