M.C.C TEAM BACK IN ENGLAND .CAPTAIN INTERVIEWED (united tress association—coptbight.) LONDON, April 14. The M.C.C. team of cricketers has arrived from New Zealand. The captain, E. R. T. Holmes> says: "Considering that the 14 men were never simultaneously fit, we did quite well." He described Hardstaff, in view of his 230 at Sydney, as "a real Australia .man." Parks and Langridge, he thought, were the surprises of the tour,'because of their invaluable batting, bowling,-and catching." He added-that he would like to-go to. Australia for the forthcoming tour, but did not expect the captaincy. He expressed the opinion that the New Zealanders and Australians took' well to the new.leg-before; rule. * Holmes refused to discuss Human's bowling 24 wides against New Zealand, which, It is understood, the M.C.C. will consider after receiving his report. INTER-FACTORY MATCH ; The third and final game of the Series played yesterday at Hagley Park between the New Zealand Slipper Company, Wellington, and the Matchless Cricket Club, team, resulted in a win for Matchless by nine wickets and one run. Scores: New Zealand Slippers 191 (C; Williams 60, L. Price 48. H. Larsen,2o, A. Blundell 43); Matchless, 182 for one wicket (M, Marshall 65, P. Sheehan 77 not out, E. Young 29 riot out). Bowling for Matchless. M, Marshall took six 'for 50; bowling for New Zealand Slippers; L. Price took one for 18. After the game the visiting, team were the guests of the Matchless Club at a dinner held In the White Swan Hotel. Toasts to both teams were honoured, and items included songs by members of each team. The "ashes" competed for were presented to the Matenless team by Mr H. Williams.
