CONTROL OF CYCLISTS
e TO THE EDITOR OT THE PRESB. Sir,—The remarks in an article in your paper to-day about cyclists needs the earnest thought of all cyclists. Seeing the number of cyclists in Canterbury (some 60,000), surely they ■should protest in one solid body and hold a mass meeting at once. Should they fail to do so and remain apathetic, they will be ruled out of the city altogether, for the motor element appears to have all the say about bylaws. I have heard one suggestion to exclude cyclists altogether from the Square. I hope to see all cycling clubs unite and hold a mass meeting, and further block vote for say two councillors (cyclists) to watch the interests of cycling on the council next election. Finally, I warn the cyclists that if they do not get in early and show their strength and protest strongly, the "motorist" council will push them off the streets altogether. They should. i wake up before it is too late, arwl I fight for their own interests and fair i play.—Yours, etc.. OLD PENNY FARTHING. March 31, 1936.
