CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING
MARIST CLUB’S 'ANNUAL MEETING
A satisfactory year was reviewed in the report of the Marist Harrier Club, which held its annual meeting yesterday. The report stated that although the members were young and inexperienced, creditable performances had been registered, and one of the members won the Canterbury junior championship. The club participated in the competitions throughout the year, and whilst no successes were recorded, the .members displayed a healthy keenness. The financial statement was satisfactory, although some accounts were still outstanding. The club placed on record its deep appreciation of the assistance given by all the harrier clubs of Christchurch which contributed largely to the progress of the club in its first year. ? The meeting was notable for the Increased attendance. The following officers were elected:—Patron, his Lordship Bishop Brqdie; chairman, Mr C. Bundle; vice-presidents, the Rev. Fathers Timoney and Q’Meeghan, Messrs W. -Hayward, J. M. Coffey, B. J. McKenna, J. Kennet, and D. Galvin; secretary, Mr A. Hendren; treasurer, Mr P. Scully; club captain, Mr A. O’Connell: deputy-captain, Mr Pat Consedine; trainer, Mr F. Williams; delegate to the Marist Association, Mr A. Hendren: delegates to centre, Messrs C. Bundle and P. Scully; committee, Messrs A. L. Curry, P. J. Consedine., J. O’Brien, and A. Flanagan; honorary committee members, Rev. Father James Maguire and Rev. Bros. Damien and Paladius.
It was decided'to have the first practice run on Saturday, April 4, on the Cashmere course, and the official opening on Saturday, April 18.
