OFFICIAL OPENING FOR ’ The official the fifth season of the Waimam Beach Golf Club took place yesterday morning. There was a large attenadnce of members. .Mr R, J- G. Collms. club captain, welcomed the players, and expressed pleashrfe at the large attendance. He Wished the club a successful year, and called on Mr A. R. Blahk to declare the season open, and drive the first b Mr Blank congratulated the club bn the large attendance. He explained several of the important rules, and asked the players to adhere to them. , ■:' Canadian mixed , foursomes were played. f The morning round resulted in a win .for A. R. Blank, and Mrs G. Hamilton, who returned a net Score of 69. D. B. L. Bowker and Miss L. Blank were the winners of the afternoon round, with a net score of 69. The best cards were:— Morning round:^—A. R. HAREWOOD CLUB The. official opening of the winter season of the Harewood Golf Club took place on Saturday. The president, Mr A. R. Blank, drove the first ball of the season. The match resulted. in a tie between A. B. Hobbs and Miss M. Ward, and S. J. Moore and Miss H. Sinclair, with cards of 3 up. The following were the best cards:— A. B. Hobbs and Miss M. Grimmer .. .. 2 down The first qualifying round of the captain’s junior trophy and a stroke handicap were played in perfect weather during the week-end. The scoring was not good although the course was in excellent order. The senior medal was won by L. W. Fleetwood with a good card of 81, 11 — 70. The junior event was won by A. Slee with a card of 94, 22—72. The best cards handed in were:—L. W. Fleetwood, 81, 11—70; C. T. Werren, 83, 12—71; H. G. Barnett, 86, 12—74; J. D. Carl, 87 12 —75. Juniors —A. Slee 94. 22—72; S. G. Holland, 93, 18—75; R. Robilliard, 94, 18—76; G. Haigh. 93, 16 —77; E. H. Box, 94, 16—78. A fourball bogey in which the “Top Dog” trophy will be played concurrently, will be held next week-end. Members will arrange their own partners and opponents. Starting times may be booked with the secretary.
