Mr A. Wells, of London street, celebrated his ninety-fourth birthday yesterday. Mr Wells arrived at Lyttelton in the ship Cashmere in 1855, and spent the greater part of his life in farming on Banks Peninsula. Heavy Rain Heavy rain, which commenced at Lyttelton on Saturday night, continued all day Sunday and yesterday. Although, a few small slips have occurred about the harbour, no serious damage is reported. Yesterday some large waterfalls were to be seen on the rar side of the harbour from Lyttelton. The rain was general at most ports in the South Island, and movements of shipping for the next few days are uncertain. Last evening a small slip was reported on the Sumner road, but it was not sufficient to hold up traffic.
