A man whose identity is not known died from injuries which he received to-day when he was struck by a motor-lorry driven by Paul Rabone, aged 18 years, on Longbum road. He crossed the highway at a right angle and then stepped back and was struck by the vehicle. The police are trying to establish his identity. He was probably a stranger to the district He is described as .being elderly, of medium fcuild, and with sandy grey hair. He was going bald. At the time o£ the accident iie was wearing dark denim trousers, a grey suit coat, a brown ,overcoat, and brown hat and shoes. MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED IN COLLISION (puss association vacua**.) MASTERTON, A motor-cyclist named William John Steele, aged 24, employed at Orui station. Riversdale. was killed outright to-night, when he collided with a car on Biairlogie Hill, 17 miles from Mas* terton. a pillion-rider named Sullivan, employed at Riversdale station, received facial injuries and shock, and w« admitted to the Maeterton Hospital. • The car was driven by Patrick Hugh Scanlan, of Fordell. It is. believed that Steele came from Dannevirke. FARMER KILLED WHEN DRAY CAPSIZES

DUNEDIN, March 6.
Andrew Melville, aged 33, a dinner, of the Milton district, was killed instantly on Thursday evening when a dray he was driving capsized and fell over a alx-foot embankment. Mel* ville bad been assisting a neighbour* ing farmer with his harvest, and was returning home when a pair of horses attached to the dray swerved to the side of the road when going down an incline, causing the vehicle to capsize. Melville’s neck was broken.

NEW PLYMOUTH, March d. When the motor-cycle he was riding crashed into a tram-car, R. W.. McKenzie, an electric linesman, received a fractured left , arm and concussion, He Ilea in the New Plymouth Public Hospital in a serious congi-. tion. Revere shock was suffered by McKenzie, and for some time after admission to hospital no X-ray examination could bo mane, it is understood that he was endeavouring to avoid a girl on a . bicycle and did not see the tram-car. He struck it with his head when the front, wheel of the. cycle-buckled. ,
