EMPIRE AIR MAIL
FURTHER AUSTRALIAN * MOVE MINISTERS TO CONFER IN LONDON NO FINAL REJECTION OF PROPOSALS UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT,) (Received February 27, 1.50 a.m.) CANBERRA, February 26. The Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons), after a meeting of the Federal Cabinet, stated that further negotiations with the British Government on the Empire air mail proposals, would be conducted on behalf of the Commonwealth by Dr. Earle Page (Minister for Commerce), and Mr R. G. Menzies (Federal Attorney-General) on their arrival in London. Mr Lyons said that it was considered more satisfactory for the negotiations to be carried on by Mr Menzies and Dr. Page, by a personal conference with the British authorities, than for them to be conducted by cable. Mr Lyons added that the Commonwealth had not at any time flatly turned down the British proposals. It had submitted otounter-proposals and had receiVed modified proposals. The Commonwealth would communicate its views to the British Government and would in the meantime have an opportunity of getting into closer touch with the New Zealand Government and exchanging views with it. .
