AUCKLAND, February 23.
Falling more than 12 feet from a «,attle tree this morning, Patrick Si Keaney, aged eight, of Mount vim was impaled, on a sapling, which .Seed his neck.. The boy, who was semiconscious, was grasping, the top of the sapling with one ., . A saw was obtained, and a neighhour cut through the sapling, about three *eei below the point of entry fae boy was taken to the Auckland SdsDitaJ, where another length was Sit' from the sapling, leaving about six inches protruding from each side rfthe boy's neck. .An operation was then performed, it being subsequently jHjbrted that the patient's condition was very serious.

At the Kilbirnie stadium on Saturday, night Putt Mossman, in an attempt to ride from- a 40-ioot tower dotonaramp into a 30 by 10-foot tank containing tour feet of blazing water, crished over the side of the ramp, and fill 30 feet to the ground. Be was taken to hospital with slight concustsnand bruises. He was discharged this afternoon. '■'■■'•'•

Through a motor-cycle colliding with a <sr on a country road shortly after 7 a.m., two brothers, Maurice. and Hlary Maunder, of Invercargill, are now in the Southland Hospital in a serious, condition; The accident hapDfiieif oa a steep incline near. ftqslyn Bush, and the impact was terrific. Maurice Maunder received a compound fracture of the right leg. below the ']m&, and the right arm, and Henry Maunder compound fractures of both legs.
TAXI OVERTURNS
«A private taxi, driven by Josiah McClintock, and a motor-car, jivan by Albert Victor Dudrtey,' a -. -jJJMJc Works employee, collided on the Lincoln road near the gates of Mount Magdala shortly after midday yesterday. It is stated that the taxi was turning into the gates of the orphanage when it wa§, struck .by the other car. The taxi was 'overturned, but the occupants; of : each vehicle escaped injury. . '
