LAUNCHING OF AWATEA
LORD AND LADY RLEDISLOE TO ASSIST
In view of the manner in which Lord and Lady Bledisloe endeared themselves to the people of New Zaeland during Lord Bledisloe's team of office as Governor-General of New Zealand, and because of the lively interest which they have continued to display. In all matters pertaining to the Dominion since their return to England, it Is appropriate that they should be associated with the launching of the Union Steam Ship Company's new 15,000-ton luxury liner Awatea. This Willtake place at the shipyards of Vicker* Armstrongs, Ltd.. Barrow-in-Furness, England, on February 25. Lady Bledisloe will perform the: actual christening ceremony, and Lord Bledisloe will make a speech at the function, which will be broadcast by the British Broadcasting Corporation. Realising the interest which will be displayed by New Eealanders in the ceremony, the New Zealand Broadcasting Board has arranged for the speech to be reproduced over the National Staffohs.
