COMMERCIAL PILOTS IN AUSTRALIA
STRICT TEST TO BE IMPOSED BLIND FLYING ABILITIES (Received January 20, 9.50 t p.m.^ „ SYDNEY, January 20. The Civil Aviation Department has issued a notification that every airman in Australia holding a commercial pilot's license will be required to pass before the end of the year an exacting test in blind flying, failure in which, will cancel his license. Pilots will be required to spin the aeroplane while flying it blind: also to stall it and make a cross country flight lasting an hour. FAST MACHINES ORDERED FROM AMERICA (Received January 20, 9.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 20. Three American air-liners, capable of high speeds, have been ordered by Airlines df Australia, Ltd., which intends to use them on the Sydney to Brisbane service. They are tri-motored Stinsons, which carry eight passengers at a cruising speed of 160 miles an Kour.
