Miles f (patient). a The winning team was St. Clair No.. 2 f H. D. Gillies (instructor), R. Geddes '• (belt), C. Gore (support), V. Adams (reel), C. Elliott, J. Roberts, and H. James - (linesmen). 0 The beltman and support of the St. 0 Clair No. 1 team (D. Shanahan and H. 0 D. Gillies) both failed to reach the buoy ), at the first attempt, and succeeded only n after the time limit had expired. Sumner 1 came next, and the visitors' task was / eased a little by the buoy having come i" closer to shore with the. falling tide. ° Wood made excellent time—3min 29sec—- '»" in the difficult conditions. s. S. W. Jarvis, a brother of tha New 5, Zealand sprint swimming champion, did; 3: very well for the third St. Clair team, 5. consisting of juniors. He reached the' buoy in 2min 54sec.
