GOLF

CHRISTCHURCH CLUB The Christchurch Golf Club will commence its competition season with a four-ball bogey event on February 15. The season usually commences with the A. E. G. Rhodes Bowl, a mixed four-ball competition; but at the request of the Ladies' Club this event has been set down for March 21. RUSSLEY CLUB The summer competitions of the Russley GoiX Club were continued over the wee*:- i end in fine weather. The course was playing well, and the scoring was good. Best cards were:—

in a win for G. T. Alley (3) and A.. M. Fowler (6), with the outstanding score of 9 up, a record for this class of competition. . Alley iplayed wonderful golf to register 69 off the stick, being 7 up on his own card, while Fowler did a 76, or 2 up. These players combine well, they having won the last four competitions in four-ball games. J. Bins ted (8) and F, V. Turner (12), all square, were next in order.
