NAVAL CONFERENCE ADJOURNS
PROPOSALS SUBMITTED TO COMMITTEE CONSIDERABLE AGREEMENT REACHED LONDON, January 17. A communique states that the Four-Power Naval Conference continued the examination of the French, British, and Italian plans fog, a system of advance notification of annual programmes and exchanges of information, and also discussed guiding rules which might be followed if the proposal were adopted. The conference appointed a subcommittee representative of Britain, Canada, India, the United States, France, and Italy to work out details, and then adjourned till January 21, when it will discuss qualitative limitation of armaments. It is understood that the conference reached considerable agreement. The sub-committee’s task will be merely to round off the proposals. The Tokyo cori’espondent of “The Times” says that the "Japan Times” declares that if the four Powers work out an agreement limiting navies Japan’s compliance is certain when the atmosphere has undergone a satisfactory change.
