GIRLS IN SLACKS
TU THE EDITOR OT THE PRESS, Sir, Please allow a few words in reply to “Sapicntia’s” recent letter on slacks worn by ladies. Rather warm remarks are made by “Sapientia” regarding masculine apparel and masculine judgment of women wearing the slacks. Such apparel may be handy for travelling and seaside wear, saving laundry work, or in a farmyard milking fractious cows. I myself have worn them there and found them very efficient. But girls certainly look better in lacy or cool print dresses, also more to a man’s approval. To say the jrast, girts look unladylike in this new langled attire. If they want to gain a sweetheart, he certainly would not pick one in trousers; neither would the girls pick a man in a dress.
“Sapientia” touches on ministers wearing lace. This is flippant talk. The surplice is worn to denote white colour as purity. Also in the Bible “Sapientia” will find advice on womens attire which condemns masculine attire worn by women. Tliey are told to bo modest and seemingly diessed. This age wants uplifting as regards modesty. Women arc the chief leaders and should show a good example. They should quit wearing'the breeks and playing what they are incapable of playing. They can have a lark in proper clothes and
be better respected. Besides, if a gh*l married, her mate might mistake her duds for his. I would advise girls to be gay, dress the right way, be respected by men. and win approval from all.—Yours, etc,, MOTHER. Picton, January 16, 1936.
