HEALTH CAMP AT BRIGHTON

CHILDREN MAKE TOUR ROUND SUBURBS All of the children from the Sunlight League’s Health Camp at the South Brighton School were taken on an observation tour over 40 miles of the suburbs of Christchurch in motorcars on Saturday afternoon by members of the South Brighton Progress League, Fourteen cars left the school at 2 p.m., and i the children were first

taken to Cathedral square to see the public buildings. The route taken was through Fendalton, past the Christchurch Boys’ High School to the Addington Workshops, along Dean’s Bush, and then down Barrington street, to the hills. The children were then taken around the hills, to Sumner, via Heathcote Valley. The party was met at Sumner at 3,30 p.m. by the postmaster, Mr Harrison, and was then entertained at afternoon tea by the Mayoress of Sumner (Mrs T. Newburgh). The children were given ice-creams, and at the request of Mrs Newburgh, sang Jtheir camp songs. ' ’ . Before leaving Sumner, for the South Brighton Progress League, Mr S. J. Grammer thanked those residents who

had entertained the party, and introduced the Mayor of New Brighton (Mr E. L, Smith). For Miss A. I. Foley, the matron of the camp, and the children, Mr Smith thanked the members of the South Brighton Progress League who had given the use of their cars, and the Mayoress of Sumner and her helpers for providing entertainment i for the party. He said that the chil- j dren had had a pleasant drive, and < deeply appreciated the kindness which i had been shown to them.
