HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE

WOMAN'S NARROW ESCAPE (r&BB.S ASSOCIATIOII TELEOKAM.) AUCKLAND, December 9. Awakened to find the house on lire shortly before 11 o'clock last night, Miss Molly Coop, of Station road, Penrose, roused her sleeping father and mother and younger brother. The family b&rcly escaped in their night attire. The father, Mr Norman Coop, owner of the house, rushed in and saved a suit. His wife also entered to salvage n frock, but when leaving by a passage she found her way barred by flames. She ran to a window which she managed to open and with help from outside, was able to escape. She was slightly burned on both arms. In spite of the efforts of the firemen, the house of seven rooms was practically gutted, most of the furniture being destroyed or damaged.
