SOUTHBROOK At the Coronation Hall on Saturday night the Southbrook Hockey Club held another soeial—the final one of the club's series. Mr F. Martyn was master of ceremonies. G. Holland s orchestra played the music, and Mr J. Rigby played extras. The Monte Carlo walw was won by Miss M. Mcintosh and Mr R, Mcintosh. The prizes for the euchre tournament, which was again well patronised, were won by Mesdames L, Martyn and L. Fahey, and Messrs W. Cain and W. Watson. SHEFFIELD The final meeting of the Sheffield Girls' Club for the 1935 session was marked, by an enjoyable party given by Mrs Ross McDonald, who entertained club members, their mothers, and friends at her home. Several outdoor games wepe played in the beautiful grounds, the winner of the croquet competition being Miss Betty Adams. Other competitions were won by Mrs H. Taylor and Miss N. Amyes (equal) and Mrs M. Maunsel!. Musical items were given by Mrs K, Taylor end Miss Betty Ronnie (vocal duet). Miss Mary Bard (piano solo), and Miss Betty Adams (song). At the conclusion of the afternoon, the president, Miss Rennie, thanked all those who had helped during the year, and especially the women who had given their homes * or the club meetings. ARANUI TJbe prize-winners at the weekly euchre party held, in, the Aranu} HaH in aid of the, hall funds were Mes-j dames Boyd, Davenport, L. frost, and Mr pavenport. The weekly euchre party in aid of the Arenui School funds was held on Saturday. The prize-winners were Mesdames PounsfOrd and L. Frost and Messrs J. T. Dickie and A. Rowland. ARTHUR'S PASS Exceptional weather was experienced in Arthur's Pass on Friday. A light frost overnight was followed by a very hot day, the temperature in the shade being 76 degrees. The air was 25 per cent, drier than for the last three years according to hygrometer readings, and any loose paper, even in the shade, curled up. Tne sky was cloudless, and bathing was enjoyed by several women. ■. Social Evening At a social held at Arthur's Pass recently, the card winners for the evening were Mrs Knight (Otira) and Mr Leopold, and the highest aggregate scores for the season were returned by Mrs Burnside (118) and Mrs Knight (B5) for the women, Messrs Sherlock and Watson tying for the men's prize with scores of 121. The evening finished with dancing.
