GIFT PARTIES

An enjoyable "kitchen" gift party, organised by Mrs S. C. Hewitt and Mrs T. Mcintosh, was held in the Fernside Schoolroom, the guests of honour being Miss Gertrude Kennedy and Mr L. Quinn. Euchre prizes were won by Miss Aileen Jack, Mrs H. G. Guy, Mr J. Evans, and Mr S. C. Hewitt. Dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Miss Joyce Smith (Springbank). Extras were played by Messrs Felix Evans and Allan Smith, and Mr B. Smith was master of ceremonies. On behalf of the guests, Mr S. C. Hewitt asked Miss Kennedy and Mr Quinn to accept a large number of useful gifts. Those present included Miss Gertrude Kennedy, Mesdames Mcintosh, Hewitt. McKenzie, John Miles, H. G. Guy, W. Evans, R. A pleasant gift party was given by several girl friends in honour of Miss Marjory James, whose marriage will take place next week. Mrs A. Guest and Mrs W. Gough entertained several friends at Ballantyne's tea rooms in honour of Miss Irene Woodbury, whose wedding will take place this month. Mrs Colin Thomas and Miss Wens Rowe were joint-hostesses at a "variety" gift party held at the formers home in Papanui road, in honour of Miss Irene Woodbury, whose marriage will take place this month. Miss Heather Neale, whose marriage will take place shortly, was the guest of honour at a gift party held at thehome of Miss Nan Wilson, Cashel Games and competitions were enioyed, and musical items were contributed by Misses J. Alexander, I. Dwight, N. Anderson, and R. Lumb. Novelty autograph programmes caused much merriment. The guest of honour received many useful gilts loi the kitchen of her future home.
