KAIKOURA NEWS

The annual meeting of the Kaikoura Brass Band was held in the bandroom, with Mr A. S. Robinson (vicepresidents presiding, in the unavoidable absence through illness of the patron, Mr F. H. Flower, with whom sympathy was expressed by the meeting. The annual report showed a satisfactory year's operation. The band had 18 plnving members. Beginners' classes had been held throughout the year with good results. A concert had been given in January at Kaikoura, and the programme had been repeated at Cheviot and Ward. A further concert was given at Kaikoura in August. The board had also played at the hospital for the patients and at other public and semi-private gatherings. Three new instruments had been purchased during the year, and also a quantity of music. The hall equipment had been improved and an energetic "working bee" had assisted this work greatly. A series of card evenings in aid of the funds; had been successful. The balancesheet showed that a satisfactory year financially had been experienced.
