WEDDINGS

WRIGHT—HAMPTON , St John's Church, Watati .road, Timaru, was effectively decorated by girl friends of the bride for the marriage which was celebrated recently of Agnes Russell, youngest daughter of Mr J. and: the late Mrs Hampton, "Haeremai," Morgans road, Timaru, to Neil' Morris, only son of Mr and Mrs D. Wright, "Glen Morvis," Palmerston, Otago. The Rev. F. W. Dunnage offtThe bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of creme French needle run lace, made with square cut neckline, relieved with a plastron of embroidered georgette.. The long tight-fitting sleeves buttoned to the elbow. The skirt, made with insets of lace,'widened at the back to form a long train bound with georgette, and the. waistline was finished with a girdle of satin links. A beautiful embroidered veil of Brussels net, lent by a friend, fell from a wreath of orange blossom to form a second train, and* she carried a trailing bouquet of freesias.

Attending the bride were Her cousins, 'Misses Violet May and Mabel Smith (Hawke's Bay). They wore slightly trained frocks of apricot needle-run lace, with square draped .neck-lines, long tight fitting sleeves finished with velvet buttons and the skirts inset with godets of lace. The waistlines were finished with twisted girdles of silk velvet of a deeper shade. They wore picture hats of apricot straw trimmed with flowers of velvet Their trailing bouquets were of abutilons and Iceland poppies. •The bridegroom was attended by Mr R. J. Burns (Oamaru) and Mr W. Wright (Palmerston), cousin of the bridegroom. At the reception held at "Haeremai," the guests were received by Mr Hampton, assisted by his daughter, Mrs H. J. Stowen, who wore a frock of black lace and a black straw hat relieved with.white, and.carried a bouquet of red anemones. Mrs Wright mother cf the bridegroom, wore a black marocain dress with diagonal stripes of red and grey, and black hat. She carried a bouquet of blue anemones and violets. Mrs A. Ross (Taieri), sister of the bride, wore a frock of navy blue reversible marocain and navy hat Another sister of the bride, Mrs , W. Beattie-(Bluecliffs), wore a wine georgette frock under a wine coat and straw hat to. matcn. Mrs W. Clearwater, Palmerston (sister of the bridegroom) wore a blue ensemble and blue hat For'travelling the bride wore a tailored coat of Venus blue romaine, flecked with oyster and trimmed with oyster foxaline, a frock .of figured crepe de chine, and hat to tone. Mr and Mrs N. M. Wright's future home will be at Palmerston.

MAW—PARKIN s The marriage was celebrated recently at St. John's Presbyterian Church, Southbridge, of Edna Margaret, third daughter of Mr and Mrs R. J. Parkin, to Leslie Robert, elder son of Mrs and the late Mr Robert Maw, Southbridge. The church was decorated with spring flowers by friends of the bride. The Rev. Robin Adair performed the ceremony, and Miss Gwyneth Greenall was organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a trained frock of magnolia satin, the bodice having a row of buttons down the back, while the neckline in front was caught with a diamente clip. Her long embroidered veil of tulle was held with a circlet of orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of lilies, hyacinths, and freesias with trails of flowers to the hem of her frock. The bride was attended by her two sisters, Misses Grace and Gwen Parkin, who wore frocks of jubilee blue crepe, made with long sleeved bodices trimmed with niching, and ruched godets inset in the skirts. Their wide brimmed straw hats were trimmed with ribbon and posies of flowers, and they carried shower bouquets of lemon naricissi and grape hyacinths. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Edward Maw, as best man, and Mr Arthur Rowley, Irwell, as groomsman. The reception was afterwards held at the church hall, where Mrs Parkin received her guests wearing a black ensemble and black hat. She carried a posy of freesias and abutilons. The bridegroom's mother wore a black wool georgette coat and frock, and a black straw hat Her posy was of red abutilons and carnations. For travelling the bride wore a saxe blue ensemble and a hat of baku straw of the same shade.
