HOSPITAL BOARD
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES The North Canterbury Hospital Board met yesterday. Mr H. J. Otley Was in the chair. The hospital committee reported that, according to the medical superintendent's report, the annual examination of the whole of the nursing staff had been completed, and that the health of the staff was excellent The loud-speaker which had been installed in the hospital to convey calls throughout the buildings was proving a success. The average daily number of patients in the hospital in the month of June had been 381.4. The flpance committee reported that the board's estimates had been approved by the Government, and that a subsidy had been allotted to the board at 19s lOd for each £1 contributed by the local authorities. The reports, with the report of the public health committee, were adopted. The benevolent committee reported that the number of applications for relief dealt with since the last meeting the board was 738, representing applications from 1901 persons. There nad been 17 applications for admission to institutions. The report was adopted.
