SALVATION ARMY FAIR A winter fair will be held in the Salvation Army Hall this afternoon and evening and to-morrow afternoon and evening. Several attractive stalls have been arranged, and this evening an entertainment will be given by members of the Young People's Division. Old-time Dance The four-weekly old-time dance, arranged by the committee of the West Lyttelton School, will be held in the Excelsior Hall on Saturday night. T».e Mei-v-Kinsman orchestra will be in attendance. Harbour Light Theatre "By Your Leave," which will be screened at the Harbour Light Theatre this afternoon and evening, is a sparkling and fast-moving comedy of a middle-aged husband's attempt to prove that he is still a gay Lothario. His efforts 3re a failure, but those of his wife, who at first did not approve cf the idea, are only too successful, much to his dismay. Genevieve Tobin and Fi-ank Morgan play the parts of wife and husband. To-morrow, "The Lives of a Bengal Lancer," which recently screened at extended seasons in the cities, will begin a season of three nights and one matinee. Golf The Diamond Harbour Golf Club will hold the second round of a mixed foursome for the Norton Vase on Saturday afternoon. A mixed bogey foursome will be held on Sunday. Partners will be drawn. Entries for the men's and women's championships of the Diamond Harbour Golf Club will close .on Saturday and the draw for the first round will be made on Sunday. An inter-club match for both men's and women's teams will be played at Charteris Bay on Sunday between the Lyttelton Golf Club and the Templeton Golf Club. The Lyttelton men's team is as follows:—M. L. Page, C. Plimmer, C. Pascoe, H. Derbidge, D. E. L. Collett, H. Fletcher, H. G. Banfield, A. Jackson; emergencies, R. Crawford, D. R. Wallace. Personal Mr G. M. Daniel, borough inspector at Lyttelton, has been advised that he has been elected an associate of the Royal Sanitary Institute, London. Lodge Meeting; At the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Kaia Toa Lodge, N.G. Sister E. Casey presided over a good attendance. It was decided to hold an oldtime dance at the conclusion of the next meeting. Community singing was held, the accompanists being Sisters G. Brooke and E. Meade.
