CANTERBURY UNION j j REPRESENTATIVE TEAM TO PLAY SUNNYSIDE The Canterbury representative team will play the Sunnyside first grade team in a match at Lancaster Park oval on Wednesday, July 31., This decision to give the Canterbury team a practice game before the northern tour was reached at the meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union held last night. Dr. W. S. Seed presided, and also present were: Messrs E. V. Phillips, H. E. Davis, E. M. Todd, A. Duggan, W. Maxwell, R. W. Britton. W. A. Britten, A. I. Cottrell, D. I. Macdonald, V. L. Jensen, J. K. Moloney, A. E. McPhail, R. R. Masters, and J. T. Burrows. Permission was given to the Albion Ciub to play the Westiand Sub-Union at Hokitika on July 27. The manager will be Mr W. J. Chapman. The sixth grade competition was declared closed, with Sydenham the winners and Christchurch runners-up. The Kaiapoi fourth grade team was given permission to play a team in Greymouth on August 31, provided the fourth grade competition is finished at that time. Northern Tour Arrangements The northern tour will be made by a party of 19 representative players, it was decided. The team will leave on Tuesday night, August 6, and go to Auckland.

On the motion of Mr Britten, it was decided that each man chosen for the northern tour who may not b.e available for all matches must notify the union of that fact before leaving on the tour. The union v/ould then decide whether the player be sent. On the motion of Mr Cottrell, it was decided to issue special passes for the seven representatives matches of this season at 10s each for the stands and 5s each for the embankment.

In the past this fixture has produced bright open football, and as both sides are just now in fine form, there should be a good game. There is one change in the Victoria College team, Redwood replacing Tricklebank, at full-back.
