CALEDONIAN SOCIETY

The fortnightly social of the Canterbury Caledonian Society was held at the Caledonian Hall and was well attended. The chair was occupied by the president, Mr C. S. Thomas, who was supported on the platform by Messrs It. A. Malcolm and George Sey (vice-presidents), and F. O. Neate (director). An interesting programme was provided by Messrs F. O. Neate and R. Fraser, as follows:—Selections by the society's pipe band; song, Mr D. McGill; military dance, Miss Rita Brooker; song, Mr L. Pegler; Gipsy ballet, Miss Mavis Neate and pupils, assisted by Mr D. McGill; instrumental item, Mr Woodward and party: song. Mr N. Burt- violin solo. Miss M. Ottey; Dutch duo, Misses D. Fowler and R. O'Loughlin; song, Mrs Filer; international reel, Misses M. Fraser, M, Neate, R. Brooker, and D. Fowler. Mr G. C. Russell, the society's official accompanist, was at the piano. Following the programme a one-act play, entitled "April Showers," was given I by the "Old Westonians* Dramatic Society," the following being the cast:— Miss Mona Green. Miss Muriel Hooper, Miss Sybil Hull, Miss Mariorie Fraser, Miss Gladys Carey, and Miss Jessie Buchanan. After the concert dancing jwas enjoyed to the music of George 1 Bradford's orchestra.
