MAN'S SUDDEN DEATH
Bertie Thomas, single, aged 52, collapsed in the garden of his home at D 4 Nursery road about noon yesterday. He was taken to the Christchurch Hospital by the St John Free Ambulance, and died shortly after admission. Thomas was a retired farmer, and formerly lived near Ashburton. An inquest will be held.
