POLICE TRUNCHEONS PUT TO NEW USE
+ RUBBER FOR MOTOR TYRES LONDON, February 19. The Berlin correspondent of "Tht rimes" says thai a German parallel to beating swords into ploughshares is the conversion of Prussian policemen's rubber truncheons into motor tyres. This is in accord with the current campaign for the use of local instead of imported materials, but the primary reason for discarding truncheons was that they are regarded as unsoldierly. The police still retain their revolvers, rifles, and bayonets.
