TEMPLETON CLUB PROGRESS FOR THE YEAR A record of the progress of the Templeton Country Club is contained in the annual report, which will be presented to members at a meeting to be held in the Islington Social Hall on March 4. The report states: "At the annual meeting held two years ago the committee was given authority to contract ior a watering scheme up to £7OO. The installation has now been completed at a total cost o£ £695 9s Bd. Approximately half of this amount has been paid, and the balance should be cleared within two years. The excess of income over expenditure is £IBO 17s 2d, alter allowing a substantial amount lor depreciation. The capital expenditure amounts to £254 5s 3d, watering scheme £175, and additional plant £7O 5s 3d. The subscriptions are practically the same as last year, but there is a substantial increase in the green ices and match and tournament fees received. "The membership roll now stands at 200. Applications have already been received for enrollment for the coming season, and it is the opinion of the committee that approximately 50 new members could be admitted without causing congestion on the links. "Four new greens were opened during the year, which makes 13 greens which have been laid down. The remaining five greens are now receiving attention, and should be opet. for play during the coming season. Reticulation has only recently been completed to the last five greens, and it was useJess sowing them until the water was available. The water mains have been laid down so as to make provision for iairvvay watering in the future. Several tees have been built, and a water supply is available for these also. It is pleasing to recall that at no period of the year was it found necessary to authorise teeing up on the fairways, which are still in perfect condition, despite the drought. The next two year:;' work on the course will consist, of refinements of the existing work, the main development work being now completed. The greens committee this year are to be congratula\?,c} on Ihe nno work performed. "The Ladies' Club enjoyed a successful and pleasant season during 1934. It was very noticeable that the standard of play, the knowledge of golf etiquette, and the club spirit among members were all very much improved during the club's third season. The committee wishes to congratulate all those women who earned handicaps, those who reduced existing handicaps, and those who graduated from the ranks of juniors fo seniors during the year."
