LORD MOYNE VISITS GLACIERS
LANDING FROM YACHT AT OKABITO ■SPECIAL TO TUB t'KEiil-. HOKITIKA, February 15. Lord Moyne, whoso large yacht, the Rosaura. is now in Now Zealand waters, landed on the West Coast on Wednesday and visited the Franz Josef Glacier. The yacht could not get in to Hokitika, so Lord Moyne got in touch with the Graham brothers at Waiho. through the Wellington radio station, and they met him with a motor-car at Okarito. Lord Moyne and a party came ashore in a launch and spent a day and a half at the glacier. Lord Moyne flew over the glacier and among the mountains as a passenger with Mr J. C. Mercer, in a Fox Moth. The caterpillar pest has proved very disastrous for a Taranaki farmer, who within two days last week had five acres of oats cleaned right down to the stalks. This is particularly unfortunate in view of the possible shortage of winter feed through the excessively hot season causing demands on fodder intended for the later season of the year.
