AN ELDERLY AIR TRAVELLER

LADY OF 85 FLIES TO WANGANUI i ' —— There is no more enthusiastic supporter of aviation than Miss Hearn, an 85-year-old Christchurch lady, who a few days ago flew from Christchurch to Wanganui in the Canterbury Aero Club's Fox Moth piloted by Mr J. J. Busch. She had for a long time wished to go to Wanganui, but as she is a very bad sailor, and not at all comfortable in a train, she thought of the journey as something of an ordeal. A nephew suggested that she go by air, and although she had never flown before, she adopted the suggestion with enthusiasm. The trip took three hours and 20 minutes, and was made in perfect weather. Miss Hearn was delighted. She said that she had never made a more comfortable crossing, and in the air she was engrossed with the scenery she saw below her. Many points of 'the country she recognised delightedly, and many of the towns, some of which she had not seen for many years, she was able to recognise at once. "It was the easiest and mos"t beautiful crossing I have ever made," she said at the end of her journey. This was her first flight, but she is determined to go up again as soon as possible.
