COMBINED PICNIC

DAIRYMEN AT WAIKUKU Christchurch dairymen and the Perfection Ice Cream Company, Ltd., combined to arrange a picnic, which was held at Leggetts Farm, Waikuk,u. A' large crowd attended. A programme of sports was held, the results being: Boys—Under six years: D. Gills 1 R Chitty 2. Under 10 years: K. Watson 1* B. Pratt 2. Under 14 years: B. Harper l', K. Kides 2. Girls—Under six years: Xqleen Brown 1, Betty Yates 2. Under 10 fears: Betty JNewton 1, Ngaire Noonan 2. Under 14 years: Valmai Harper 1, June Gracie 2; Single Women—Miss Clemence 1. Miss Gladjs McKenzie 2. Married Women—Mrs J. P. Suell 1 Mrs Stewart 2. Single Men—F. McKenzie 1. F. Brownie Married Men—Gibbs 1, Harper 2. Girls' Spider Race—J. Chitty 1. M. Bassett 2. Boys' Spider Race—J. Yates 1. R. Riach Women's Wheelbarrow Race—Miss G. McKenzie and F. McKenzie 1, Miss Burnett and M. Marriott 2. Cutting the Turkey's Head—Women: Miss Algie 1, Mrs Roberts 2. Men: J. Burr 1, J. Brownie 2. Stepping Competition—Women: Miss M Hartley 1. Men: Beck 1. Wbmen's Chitty 1, Mrs Wright 2. In the drinking competition, the perfection ice cream team beat the dairvmen. Approximately 1800 ice creams and 50 gallons of drinks were provided by the committee. Cricket, bathing, and various games were enjoyed.
