MONICA PARK SPEEDWAY
ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME FOR TO-MORROW For the second dirt track meeting under their management at Monica Park to-morrow night, Stadium Sports, Ltd., have prepared a big programme with several special events. The two overseas riders. Ken Kirkman and Ray Taylor, will be matched against each other in the experts' event, which will be decided on the best of three races from a clutch start. Both Kirkman and Taylor have collected many trophies in their speedway careers, «*nd are star attractions on any of the world's leading tracks, and tms straight-out trial on Saturday is likely to produce three thrilling encounters. Kirkman will also be seen in a solo effort to beat Ray Taylor's record of 43 2-ssec from a clutch start for two laps, and he will have to do his utmost to be successful. To celebrate Taylor's record a specially-taken picture of him in action will be presented with every programme to-morrow^ Another big event will be the Golden Helmet. Hobson and Rhodes will race in the first heat, and Roscoe and Dumpleton in the second. On their performances at the first meeting this should provide a real thrill. Still another feature will be the appearance of P. Phillips, the Wellington star, who is under special engagement for the occasion. With these special events in addition to a full racing programme, Speedway enthusiasts should be assured of a big night pf thrills. Among other improvements instituted _by the management is a new announcing service, and for the entertainment of those who arrive at Monica Park early musical selections will commence at 7.30 p.m. Should the meeting be stopped by bad weather _ before the sixth race, pass checks will be given for the next one.
