PRISONERS SENTENCED
(rmss *spocj*tioii tzlkgkah.) WELLINGTON, January 31. The following prisoners were sentenced in the Supreme Court to-day by the Chief Justice (the Rt. Hon. Sir Michael Myers):— Cecil Edward Francis Burton, aged 22, John Sutherland Howard, aged 19, both of Nelson; breaking and entering; 18 months' reformative detention and 12 months' probation respectively. John Alfred Wiffin, aged 21, breaking, entering, and theft; 18 months' reformative detention. John Tahu Andrews, aged 24, "theft from dwelling; 16 months' imprisonment with hard labour. Basil Tui Bishop, aged 22, breaking, entering, and theft- 12 months' imprisonment with hard labour. John Veich Crichton, a youth, breaking, entering, theft, and indecent assault on a female; three years in a Borstal institution. John Thomas Backhouse, aged 20; breaking, entering, and theft in association with Crichton; two years in a Borstal institution. Trevor Mackenzie, aged 45, breaking, entering, and theft, and breaking and entering at Hastings; 18 months' reformative detention. Williams Clarence Carson, aged 29, carnal knowledge, at Dannevirke; two and' a half years' reformative detention. _
